Visit to Temple Square

Mike finished Summer school so we decided on a quick trip to Utah before all the craziness of Fall starts. Also our grandson Jake was having his first football game and we wanted to see him play. We decided to bring our two oldest grandsons with us, Nick and Jacob. We had a long ride in the car but it was lots of fun having them along. We have been able to do so many fun things. We did go to see Jake play on Saturday. It was very hot. About 100 degrees. We felt so bad for him in all that football gear. He had fans from the farthest away. He was an all star on both offense and defense. We all went to Chili's afterwards and boy could Nick and Jacob put away the food. By the time they got to the chocolate molton cake they said they couldn't eat another bite. Wrong again. I don't think I could have counted to 10 before it disappeared. They are still talking about that meal. Then on Tuesday we went to Provo and saw the BYU campus and Aunt Megan and Uncle Ben. Oh, and Saidie and Mylie. Megan was getting new carpet and thought the carpet men would be done by the time we got there. Wrong again. They finished about 3PM and Megan met us at the Cougar Eat for a late lunch. The boys both thought that when they go to BYU they would just live in the student center. Jacob especially thought he had died and gone to heaven with all the books. Both boys loved the Science center and we had to make a return trip there. Nick decided maybe he would like to major in some kind of science. We met Uncle Ben and Uncle John with Megan at the Cheesecake Factory. The boys couldn't believe the portion sizes. They decided to order an oreo cheesecake to share. Once again it disappeared before the rest of us had found our forks.

Then on Wednesday we went to Salt Lake City and saw Temple Square. Ella went to get her treatment and then they met us and we saw some things together. Of course, the boys were starving so we went to the Olive Garden for lunch. Neither Nick or Jacob had been to that restaurant so they were again surprise how big the Never Ending pasta bowl was. We had a great time. Today we are going to see the Logan Temple and a few other things in Logan. We will go watch Jake's scrimmage and then home tomorrow. We have had such a wonderful time with all our grandsons and sweet little Ella. We are grateful to the generosity of LeAnne and Jason and especially taking time out of the schedules to accommodate us. It was the first week of school so it was especially hard for Jake to go to school while cousins stayed home or were doing fun adventures. He was a great sport and Mom and Dad let him miss school yesterday. Today was Ryan's first day at Kindergarten and never was there a more enthused kid going to school. Tomorrow we are homeward bound and back with our Oregon family. We miss them and are excited to get back and share our fun times.
